Caution - Pirates Ahead!

(click on the image and zoom to view details)

Lots of comments yesterday! Thanks to all of you who took time to do so!

This shot was taken in Las Vegas too. As you can see, it is from Treasure Island. I wanted to take a shot with the skull facing the camera, but there was too much distraction in the background. This was the best possible angle with the least distraction. I wanted it that way so that the skull would stand out! Again, this shot is coming straight from the camera. But the more I look at it, I think I should trim it a little bit.

Please share your thoughts!

I think as photographers we should be given special powers to make people and some objects move out of our way so that we can get our "perfect" shot. Let's start a petition.

Great photo, none-the-less.

Thanks for popping by and commenting on my blog, samcam.

I love Micki's idea about being able to magically vanish backgrounds we don't like. I'll definitely sign that petition. :)

Mind you, I don't mind the building behind the Treasure Island sign myself. Kind of puts it in context or something along those lines?? I like the angle.

I suspect that a photo of Las Vegas without people in is something of a novelty (pirates don't count) :-)

Nice shot.Would prefer the shot at night though, but I like it.

I like it the way it is, no trimming necessary in my opinion. Great close-up!

Thanks everyone!!

Micki, I did have a wand, For some reason it was not working ;)

Azhar, I did have a night shot of this, but it did not come out well.

Aw,the night shot wouldve been great.Came back to look at this image again and I know you love to keep your images as natural as possible, but an I'm Feeling Lucky in Picasa should do something interesting.Or,increasing the saturation and slightly increasing highlights and shadows too.I don't like to edit my images as well but I have to most of the time because my camera sometimes does not capture the image as well as I can see it,but sometimes I use editing to make bad images look good, which is pretty mean but the final result is great.

Trimming wouldn't have helped because of the building in the background. Nice shot otherwise. Infact the building gives it an additional meaning, the pirates in the building specially if you had both facing the camera :)

Looking good. I agree with you on the idea of trimming it. May be you can get rid of everythinh on the left of the skull.

It could also be taken somewhere around Disney in Orlando, I saw things like this there as well.

I like this, I wonder, are the pirates the ones running the casinos? LOL

Thank you everybody!

Sam I'll have to agree with you about trimming. A part of the left side of the frame could be done without. and also the top of the lamp at the bottom of the frame.. besides that love the subject matter and the corelation with Casino pirates though its a very loose corelation..
