Stop and See

(click on the image and zoom to view the details)
I shot this picture during one of my road trips to Florida. This building is located in the intersection of two state highways in a little town called Baker. Liked the effect that sunlight was creating on this red building. I did do a little crop and "I am feeling lucky" in Picasa. You can see the original image here. I kept the pedestrian crossing light in the frame because that is what gives it a "stop and see" effect.

Did I do justice by cropping this image? Please share your thoughts!

As always, a BIG "Thank you" for all of you who take your valuable time to visit and comment.

Giant in me - 2

(Click on the image and zoom to view the details)

Yet another macro. I posted a different angle below (for perspective). I love this one better because of the color. Also, this angle makes it look huge. If you like this one you will like "Giant in me" that I posted a few days ago. Any comments?

PS: My wife shot the "Take off into sunset" shot from yesterday.

Take off into sunset..

(click on the image and zoom to view the details)

Here is one more sunset shot. I sharpened the image in picasa. Is there anything else I could have done, with picasa, that would have made this image look better? Please share your thoughts and I will post process accordingly and post it in tomorrow suppliment post.
Thanks for your feedback!

Some of you wanted to see a closeup shot of yesterday's macro flower. Here it is. I did some sharpening and added saturation to this. You have to zoom and see to appreciate the details. I personally liked yesterday's post better. Which one do you like? Let me know. Also here are some awesome macro shots from my friends at:
1. Sombras
2.
Bhootakannadi

Enjoy!

One more macro shot! You will have to zoom it to appreciate the details! I applied very little soft focus to make the flower stand out!

Thanks for your comments on yesterday's shot.

Tomorrow I'll post another one of my favorite sunset shots. Please stop by and check it out!

Did the Sky fall down???

(Click on the image & zoom to view the details)

As you can see, this is the reflection of an evening sky in a small puddle on the road. Color of the cloud was due to sunset. I purposely captured a little bit of asphalt to give it a perspective. Let me know how you like it.

Thanks to everybody who shared some valuable tips on macro photography.

One more macro shot. I just love this. I always wanted to capture early morning dew drops on a flower. This was a perfect opportunity. This image looks awesome in 5MPs. I can send you one if you want to see it. Just send me a note.

Let me know how you like it. Is there anything that I should keep in mind while shooting a macro, that would improve shots like these? Let me know your thoughts!

Turbulence ahead..

( click on the image and zoom to view the details)

As you can see, this was shot from an airplane during one of my earlier trips. I like this shot because, you can see a little bit of land and some clouds as well. I shot this just before we entered a thick patch of clouds. Note the reflection in the wing. It faded as we enterd into the coluds.

Let me know how you like it.

Thanks for your comments on yesterdays post. Have a great weekend!

This is one of my favorite sunset shots. This one is shot at Lake carlyle too. If I have to equate a feeling with this shot, it would be "peaceful"!. I just love the way it came out. No post processing. Hope you will like it as much as I do.

Sea Lion Love

(click on the image and zoom to view the details)

While we were at the St.Louis Zoo, we attended a Sea Lion show. It was very interesting. Got some lovely shots there. I like this the most! I have a similar shot without the trainer and was debating which one to post. I decided on this one because I believe the trainer himself is a part of the sea lions family. Notice how the cub has its eye's closed! Very cute!

Giant in me

(click on the image and zoom to view the details)
This is one of my favorite macro shots! Actual size of this flower(I don't know its name) is about an inch. This shot makes it look huge. Since I absolutely loved the way it came out, I did not do any post processing.
You will love it too when you see it in its original size. For some reason, blogger reduces the size of the image when you upload. I have this image in 5 MP. If you want to see it in this resolution, let me know, I will send one to you.

Thanks to all of you who take time to visit and comment! Let me know how you like this one.

St.Louis Landmark

(click on the image and zoom to view the details)

I'm back. For those of you wondering what happened, I was out of town this weekend with no access to a computer. Thanks for visiting this blog and your continuous support.

This shot was taken from my office window. Sometimes when I say I am from St.Louis, the first question people ask is about the "ARCH". This is the world famous St.Louis Arch as seen from my office. I loved how the sunshine is reflected on the arch in this shot. It was just perfect. As you can see, there is a lot of noice (distraction) around the two builidings, so I have used very little soft focus to make the arch stand out even more than it is already!

Once again, thanks for visiting and sharing your thoughts!

Bellagio at night

(click on images and zoom to view details)

Many of you asked if I had taken any night shots in Las Vegas. I did take many night shots, but only a few came out well.
Bellagio has many different night colors on different nights. When we were there, the night lights were very simple. The first one is of the tower zoomed in. I am posting the second one just for perspective purposes. I personally did not like the way the second one came out. But what the heck, it is something!

Thanks for taking time to visit!

Deep in the woods

(click on the image and zoom to view details)

I would like to say I had to go deep into the woods to get a shot of this beautiful waterfall.. I would also like to say that this place was not easy to reach.. But unfortunately that would be twisting the truth (a lot!).. Anyway, this shot was taken at St.Louis Zoo (so much for being adventurous). This is a beautiful place. This is an artificial (and yet realistic) waterfall. I love this shot because looking at it gives you a feeling that this location is infact deep in the woods! I have not done any post processing on this shot. Let me know if you think that it needs one!

As always, thanks for visiting and sharing your thoughts!

Caution - Pirates Ahead!

(click on the image and zoom to view details)

Lots of comments yesterday! Thanks to all of you who took time to do so!

This shot was taken in Las Vegas too. As you can see, it is from Treasure Island. I wanted to take a shot with the skull facing the camera, but there was too much distraction in the background. This was the best possible angle with the least distraction. I wanted it that way so that the skull would stand out! Again, this shot is coming straight from the camera. But the more I look at it, I think I should trim it a little bit.

Please share your thoughts!

Sunset Canoeing

Sunset Canoeing(Click on the image and zoom to see the details)

This shot was taken at the Creve Coeur Lake. Many of my sunset shots come from this lake. Eventhough, I have scores of sunset shots taken, this one holds a special spot because it reminds me of a poem called "Paddle your own Canoe". I wonder how refreshing it would have felt to the guy in the canoe after he finished paddling across this lake! It was so refreshing just to see him go across.

This picture is coming straight from the camera. No picassa touch. Thats one more reason why I love it. I feel it is perfect the way it is! Let me know your thoughts!

Thanks to all of you who took time to comment on yesterdays post.

Pipe Dreams

Pipe Dreams, Copyright: Lens Reflections (Click on the image and zoom to see the details)

This picture was taken at Laumeier Sculpture Park. This place is a photographer's dream. It has lots of beautiful sculptures, very colorful ones too. If you cannot make it from this picture, the arrangement here, called The Way is made up of 18 salvaged steel oil tanks and is 65 feet tall, 102 feet long, and weighs 50 tons. I have visited this place only once. I want to go back there again because they have new additions to the park every year.

I like the way this shot came out, especially since, all you see in this shot is green, red and blue (maybe a little bit of black)! Hope you like it as much as I did.

For tomorrows post, you are going to see one of my favorite sunset photos! I am sure you will like it..

Thanks for visiting and taking time to comment!

Wow, the numer of comments yesterday was awesome! Thanks to all of you who take time to visit this blog.

I took this picture in the summer of 04. I kind'a thought that this dog was too big for the car he was peeping out of. He was looking all over the place, until he saw me with a camera. Then he would not take his eyes off the camera with a "don't mess with me" stare! That was great because I could get an awesome shot! I did add a little soft focus with picassa to make him stand out in this picture. Hope you like it!

Sunset at Lake Carlyle

Sunset at Lake Carlyle(Click on the image and zoom to see the details)

This shot was taken at another lake near (50 miles!) from our home. My wife and I love this place. The drive to this place is awesome too. Its been a long time since we have been there. This shot was taken sometime in 2003. The little spect that you are seeing at the center of this shot is a bird. You can see it better zoom on this image (after clicking on it). I have not done any post processing on this picture. It is coming straight from the camera. One of these days we might plan a trip to this lake. I am sure it has changed a lot since our last visit.

Let me know how you like it. Btw, a very BIG THANKS to all of you taking your time to comment!

Thanks for all the folks who took time to comment yesterday! Please know that your opinions are valued.
I shot this picture while we were in Las Vegas. Las Vegas is a photographers paradise (along with being many other peoples paradise). I have many that I had taken in Las Vegas, like this one, I posted a few weeks ago. Hope you like it as much as I do.
Btw, I don't know if any of you are experiencing trouble with the photo upload feature of blogger, I had a hard time uploading this image. I had to do it multiple times to get it going.

Colorful fountain

(click on the picture and zoom to see the details)

I shot this picture near our house at a local shopping center. The have this colorful fountain during the off-winter seasons. This particular day when I went to take a couple of shots of this place, it was really windy. And the water from the fountain was sprinkling all over. It was a nice scene. I wanted to capture the fountain with its colors, but the street light at the back kept distracting this view and spoiling my shots. I finally settled for this one. Posted by Picasa

Thai chakra

(click on the image and zoom to see the details)

I took this shot at a local Thai restaurant. The decor here is simply beautiful. I took many shots that day, in between my bites, especially because it was unusually empty. The color of the wall here is red. As you can see, I did not use any filters to get the shine off the wall. This shine was caused due to the lights that were directly projected on these artifacts. The details on this one is simply beautiful. I did add some picassa touch to this image to reduce the effects of the lights, but for some reason couldn't get rid of the shine from the wall.

If you have not noticed yet, I have started blogrolling 'My Favorite' links. I think it is a great tool. As always thanks for your kind comments yesterday. Thats what keeps me going! Posted by Picasa

Cricket in the green

This picture was taken at Nevelle resort, NY. It reminds me so much of how the resort was nestled between mountains. It was lush green everywhere. There is nothing like playing cricket surrounded this awesome green. We had a ball!

Its my lake!

(click on the image and zoom to view details)

This shot was taken at the same lake. This bird(I dont know what kind it is, but it is supposedly a famous breed in Missouri) was looking majestic! I actually wanted to take a shot while it was flying, but could not get any decent shot. It was walking on the wooden wall for a while as if it owned the lake and merrily fishing. Eventhough I like this shot, it cannot do justice to the actual experience. Hope you will like it as much as I do.

Also, Check out the 'My Favorite blogs' section. I have links to some cool blogs that I visit almost daily.
Ok, I found what this bird is. Its an Egret.

Sunset Splash

(Click on the picture and zoom to see the details)
I am back from NY trip. Here is another one of my shots from the Creve Coeur lake. It was shot on the same day as this shot. This was my wife's idea. Throw a stone and capture the splash. I had many of these shots taken, but I like this one the most. As you can see, there are ripples from a previous throw; but it looks like as if the ripple came befor the splash! We had a great time that day!
As always, many thanks for those of you who take your valuable time to visit my humble blog and on top of that take time to add comments!
I have many beautiful shots from the trip from NY,but not gotten a chance to load it to my computer. They are still in my camera.
